Five-Minute Friday: Changed From the Inside Out

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead,…

Five Minute Friday: Begin

In the beginning… …this is how God started telling His story. In the beginning…everything was new. In the beginning…blemish ceased to exist. In the beginning…promise was held in a balance. In the beginning…is where everything truly started. Over the course of my life, I look back and see so many beginnings. So many moments I geared back into my life…

Serving Hands

Hands. Hands to mold. Hands to hold. Hands to bend. Hands to mend. Hands have such a capacity to help…but they also hold within them the ability to break so very easily. Handle with care are the words that come to mind when I think of this. Was I handled with care by the hands entrusted to the lives that…

Thawing the Broken Heart

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Childhood nursery rhymes sound fairly innocent on the surface. Seeking to lessen blows to our hearts, and encouraging distinct messages that sound pretty on the surface, alas, the underlying messages muddy the waters of our emotional lives; rendering us unarmed for the battle ahead. I took this nursery rhyme as…

An Update…Y’all!

So…. …how are y’all doing? haha Alas, my southern is surely eeking out of me lately. Being planted for 16 years in North Carolina, it was bound to happen. I had a fairly good foundation set for me growing up in Southern Arizona, but living here all this time has truly taken its toll on my speech. I apologize for…

Encouragement Cafe: Apologies Week

I’ve gone out on a limb…something I’m not used to doing. Taking risks aren’t my strongest trait, but alas, this the Holy Spirit knows…and therefore, He constantly seeks to press out of me who He created me to be [in Him]. With this, and without further adieu, you can find my first devotional posted today on Encouragement Café with Luann Prater &…

On Discipline

I’m learning this week that to correctly administer discipline to our children, we mustn’t demand obedience…nor respect. We mustn’t demand anything of our children – demands only breed rebellion. No, disciplining is not bred through demanding…it’s bred through serving our children in love.

That love…is Christ.

Not in my House!

Up until the last few years, I hated boundaries. Literally, hated them.

Hate is such a strong word, and it literally defines out to mean, “to detest” in both Hebrew and Greek. Inasmuch, detest literally defines out to mean, “to curse, to call God to witness and ahbor.”

Boiled down it equivocates to literally mean one thing: to curse.

This is opposite of love in every way. Many quantify hate to be the polar opposite of love, but in actuality it is on it’s own wavelength all by itself. It seeks to destroy, separate hearts from their Creator and others, and overall hate destroys lives.

I recall words spoken over me as a child that were uttered from my mother’s lips in jest:

What is a Real Dream?

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”  -Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV)

Rest. What a seemingly burdensome term in our modern day.

Why? Why is it burdensome to consider rest?

Why? Because the world defines rest as laziness?

Why? Because you’re not at the level you were told to be at by your parents?

Why? Because you’re trying to keep up with the Internet Joneses in all ways?

The whole concept of rest is lost in the ambiguity of success to the point that even thinking to even consider resting leads
